Education and training Mode and period of study, undergraduate programmes offered: Full-time education: the study process lasts for five years based on general secondary education.
The Institute of Information Technologies offers the following undergraduate programmes:
This programme is oriented towards giving the students capability to use modern computer technologies. The following subjects are studied in the course of training:
- Programming technology
- Information networks
- Object-oriented programming
- Client-server databases
- Information technologies
- Smart information technologies
- Information security and protection
- Computational geometry and graphics, etc
The students acquire background in the field of programming (Pascal, DELPHI, Visual Basic, C#, PHP, Java, HTML), databases (MS ACCESS, MS SQL), multi-media and CASE — technologies, design techniques of information systems. The knowledge gained allows the graduates to be employed in the area of computer technologies. They can be employed in the following positions:
- Analyst-programmer
- System-manager
- Database manager
- Engineer-programmer
- Information systems designer
and others related to computer technologies.
The students trained in this speciality acquire high levels of skill in the following fields:
- Linguistic and software support of the systems of computer-aided design
- Developing systems of computer-aided design
- Smart subsystems of computer-aided design systems
- Geometric modeling in systems of computer-aided design
- Commercial logistics
- Implementing mechanical engineering in systems computer-aided design
There is a steady demand for computer professionals in the enterprises to design, develop, assemble and adjust technical equipment of computer-aided design systems. The areas of the institute graduates professional activity are as follows:
- design and construction
- production processing
- science and research
- management and organization
- maintenance
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES IN DESIGN (qualification — an engineer)
The students acquire background in modern areas of computer design, animation, graphic arts and Web-technologies. On completion this programme the graduates may do the following:
- full cycle of prepress of any graphic products
- electronic publishing
- working out elements of corporate style
- designing, producing artworks and Web-sites design
- producing animated multimedia presentations, banners
- working out and visualizing design projects
- computer support of printing and advertizing activities
The graduates are ready to work both as individual designers and part of a team working at large-scale projects.
APPLIED MATHEMATICS (qualification — an engineer)
If you are interested in mathematics, eager to solve logic problems and to do programming, you should opt for this programme. The students acquire knowledge in mathematical and applied subjects, calculus of tensors, mathematical economic theory, econometric theory, optimization methods, games theory and operations research, mathematical modeling and managing a company. They also study the subjects related to computer-based training: algorithmical languages and programming, system software, databases, information networks, programming and application aids, computer-aided systems of data processing. Entrance examinations for Russian students:
- Mathematics (Unified State Examination)
- Physics (Unified State Examination) or Computer science (ASTU test)
The results are estimated in a 100-point scale
- Russian language (Unified State Examination)
The results are estimated in grades of "pass"/"not pass"
Foreign applicants are enrolled in the university after passing examinations at the preparatory department (Russian language, mathematics, physics, computer science). For detailed information about entrance terms for foreigners you should address the site of International centre of education.
